Ron Onesti, Operator of the Des Plaines Theatre, has announced plans to open a Speakeasy in the historic theatre.  Based on the success of his other speakeasies, the Club Arcada Speakeasy in St. Charles and the Bourbon ‘N Brass Speakeasy in Evanston, he will open a second Bourbon ‘N Brass location atop the Des Plaines Theatre.  The speakeasy will boast hundreds of antiques, all included in Onesti’s personal collection, over 100 bourbons and whiskeys, and an extensive food menu. The theatre, currently undergoing a $10M renovation, is slated to re-open in the fall of 2020.

Upon signing papers to manage and operate the theatre in early June, Onesti immediately began the planning process with developers.  From a complete demolition and re-design of the theatre and its surrounding hospitality spaces to restoring the grand marquee that has been a part of the Des Plaines landscape for nearly 100 years, the theatre is being transformed into a state-of-the-art entertainment facility.  “I am beyond excited to become a member of the Des Plaines community, and appreciate the support I have received from residents, anxiously awaiting the re-opening of their beloved theatre”,  stated Onesti, “I look forward to bringing world-class entertainment and a unique dining experience to such a historic landmark.  I am currently booking phenomenal live acts for the fall, and can’t wait to announce an opening date soon!”

The opening of Bourbon ‘N Brass later this year will be one of the largest celebrations planned throughout the year as Onesti celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Prohibition, which went into effect January 17, 1920, at 12:00:01AM.
