POSTPONED: Comedian Frank Spadone, Rescheduled date TBA

DUE TO ILLNESS, THE SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED.  A RESCHEDULED DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON. Frank showed his comedic side early in life, imitating people (famous or not) and doing various accents. The real test came when Frank was to imitate his High School principal at a team pep rally in front of the whole school. Would he get a laugh? Would he get suspended? Talk about pressure! As it turned out, everybody loved it, including the principal. Frank draws large crowds and his fans travel far and wide just to see him. His ability to leverage his audience has benefited and helped many, including Frank’s soft spot, children. Frank credits his natural ability to two people: his maternal grandmother, Mama Teresa, who was quite the joker and extremely quick-witted, and his paternal grandfather, Papa Cheech, who was known for his storytelling ability. ...

Martha Reeves & The Vandellas // Voices of Classic Soul, Former Lead Singers of the Temptations, Platters, Drifters and Four Tops

Although she was born in Eufaula, Motown soul sensation Martha Reeves moved northward with her family to Detroit before she was a year old, growing up in the metropolitan musical climate of “Motor City U.S.A.” Along with her high-powered backup singers, the Vandellas, Martha Reeves created some of the most irresistible and unforgettable dance records of the 1960s. By the middle of the decade, Martha and the Vandellas had established themselves as Motown’s earthier, funkier alternative to the sweetened urban soul sounds of Diana Ross and the Supremes. Reeves and her Vandellas released a steady volley of explosive pop and rhythm-and-blues chart busters including “(Love is Like a) Heat Wave”, “Quicksand”, “Nowhere To Run”, “I’m Ready for Love”, “My Baby Loves Me”, “Jimmy Mack”, and so many more!  Joining Martha on Stage will be Voices of Classic Soul.  Attending a performance by Voices Of Classic Soul is like getting a master class on Motown, Musical Magic Moments, and much more! Voices Of Classic Soul members have been around the world and back again as the lead singers of some of the most legendary vocal groups of all time. Every Voices Of Classic Soul performance features a trio of top vocalists selected from an “A” list roster of former lead singers of the Temptations, Platters, Forever Motown, Main Ingredient, Four Tops, Drifters, and more. It’s truly the best of the best: a top-shelf experience. Voices Of Classic Soul concert attendees are treated to incredible showmanship, classic dance moves, and some of the biggest hits of all time, including “My Girl,” “Ain’t No Woman Like The One I Got,” “Get Ready,” “The Great Pretender,” “Baby I Need Your Loving,” “Only You,” “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg,” “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes,” “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” “Under The Boardwalk,” “It’s The Same Old Song,” “On Broadway,”  “Everybody Plays The Fool,” “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “Save The Last Dance For Me,” “Can’t Get Next To You” and many, many more. ...

Mike Fornes' portrayal of Gordon Lightfoot is simply an honest effort to entertain with an accurate representation of a Lightfoot concert. Mike plays the role of “Gord” in first person yet avoids saying “I” or “me” in his storytelling of the songs and the circumstances of how they were written. Screening of Cabrini Documentary “Cabrini”

The JCCIA is offering a special screening of a major new epic film about the astonishing life and accomplishments of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. “Cabrini” tells the deeply inspirational story of a dynamic leader who championed the dignity of suffering immigrants worldwide — a story of perseverance, hope, forgiveness, and determination to succeed against nearly insurmountable odds. The film focuses on Mother Cabrini’s early years in New York when, as a penniless immigrant herself, she and her mission met fierce resistance from the Church, the City, and even elements of her own community. Cabrini went on to found the largest charitable empire the world had ever known — truly a worldwide empire of hope. One of the great entrepreneurs of the 19th century, she was canonized in 1946.  The film’s mission is to bring the story of Mother Cabrini to hundreds of millions of people around the globe; to inspire the world with her values; and to demonstrate that, with faith and determination, one person can accomplish the impossible. The film was directed by Alejandro Monteverde.  ...

The Ides of March Christmas Show

Since 1964 Chicago’s IDES OF MARCH has thrilled audiences with their mix of rocking guitars, brilliant brass, and heartfelt vocals. Powered by the unforgettable songs of Grammy-Winner Jim Peterik, their music has become an evergreen feature on radio stations everywhere, in movie soundtracks, and national advertising campaigns. Their live shows are legendary for their energy and sheer enjoyment. Defying the odds, the four original members, Jim Peterik-Guitar, Larry Millas-Guitar, Bob Bergland-Bass, and Mike Borch-Drums have remained together, weaving their way through the shifts in popular music, and always rising to action in creating a show that remains at the peak of entertainment. The original members are joined by Scott May-Keyboards, Tim Bales- Trumpet, Henry Salgado-Trombone, and Steve Eisen-Saxophone. That show has become a cornucopia of platinum hits, starting with the Ides’ own immortal “Vehicle”. Upon its release in April of 1970, the brass-driven tale of the “friendly stranger in the black sedan” became Warner Brother’s fastest selling single of all time, and to this very moment is played daily on radio stations throughout the world. It has become one of those rare chestnuts that no matter how many times you hear it, one never tires in its listening. In contrast to “Vehicle’s” power, lies the lush vocal harmonies of the Ides’ “L.A. Goodbye”, the centerpiece of the unplugged mini-set inside each Ides Of March concert. Their 1965 debut single “You Wouldn’t Listen” harkens back to the British invasion of the time. It is astounding to hear the band so nimbly returning to its roots, summoning the voices of their youth. Chicago’s very own “THE IDES OF MARCH”, for over 50 years, an irresistible favorite. GREAT GOD IN HEAVEN YOU KNOW THEY LOVE YOU! ...

This is an 8 piece band that travels and performs all shows together.  Additionally, they have a multi-media slideshow. Who can forget the incomparable music of the Carpenters? The songs move from Macy’s signature vulnerable intimacy on the lead single, “Thinking of You,” the epic orchestral ballad “You Got Away” and the festive, sexy circus of “Bottom to the Top” to the resoundingly rebounding singalong uplift of “Every Night” featuring special guest, rapper Maino. qMacy Gray & The California Jet Club’s The Reset just might be the world’s antidote for all that is worrisome, hopeless and mundane. Mr. Big: “The BIG Finish”: Farwell Tour

MR. BIG is putting on their signature top hats and old shoes one last time for a worldwide tour, aptly titled “The BIG Finish.” Since the band’s original drummer and co-founder, Pat Torpey, lost his battle with Parkinson’s disease in 2018, the band now feels it’s time to mark the end of this chapter of their legacy.  “We wanted to do a proper farewell, and this seems like the right way to do it,” asserts bassist/vocalist Billy Sheehan. Notes guitarist/vocalist Paul Gilbert, “We’re in the process of making sure we come up with a suitably big entertainment extravaganza to go along with our music. And since our music has resonated so wonderfully in places all over the world, we’re going to play in as many of those places as we can.” Submits lead vocalist Eric Martin, “If we were in the movie business, we’d just put it all up in lights and say, ‘Welcome to The BIG Finish!’ Seriously, I’m glad we’re getting a chance to do it all onstage together as MR. BIG again and raise a flag to everything we’ve done as a band over the years.”  Joining MR. BIG on drums for this special final world tour will be longtime friend of the band Nick D’Virgilio (Spock’s Beard, Big Big Train), stepping in for founding drummer/vocalist Pat Torpey. “We found a wonderful drummer in Nick, and he’s got a great voice too,” confirms Sheehan. “Nick has a vocal range similar to Pat’s, and he’ll be able to do the parts Pat did with a similar finesse. It’s a big relief because MR. BIG has always been heavy on the harmonies. When the band began, we really relied on each other. We knew each guy would do exactly what he needed to do vocally and to do it righteously, on key, and in time. It’s difficult to find a drummer who sings in that range, but Nick has the voice we really need onstage.”  One particular aspect of this upcoming final run that MR. BIG are excited about to a man is the decision to perform the entirety of their breakthrough Platinum-selling 1991 album LEAN INTO IT from start to finish as a featured highlight of the live setlist. (To be sure, the full setlist will encompass Mr. Big’s entire career.) LEAN INTO IT is the perfect litmus testament to the band’s inherent dexterity at blending a variety of styles together, whether it’s the heady rocking brew of “Green-Tinted Sixties Mind,” the power-drilled and power-chorded identity checklist “Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy,” or the truly heartfelt sentiments found within “To Be With You,” MR. BIG’s chart-topping, worldwide #1 smash hit single.  When it comes to harnessing the real thing that best represents the unyielding power of rock & roll, MR. BIG have truly got what it takes. Make sure to catch them before they bring down that final curtain, because when it’s through, it’s through. ...
