SACRED VOICES: FROM THE VATICAN

June 21 @ 3:00 pm

From Rome to Illinois, Sacred Voices Choir brings the rich tradition of Roman polyphonic music to the Des Plaines Theatre, with the performance also featuring beloved Italian opera arias. Made up of 40 singers from leading Roman and Vatican musical institutions, the choir is led by Pontifical Cantore Adriano Caroletti and accompanied by Josep Solè Coll, organist of the Pope and St. Peter’s Basilica.

The program celebrates the great composers of the Sistine Chapel Choir, including Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Lorenzo Perosi, and Domenico Bartolucci, whose music has long accompanied papal liturgies in the Vatican. Sacred Voices recently performed for Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican in celebration of Palestrina’s 500th anniversary. Their U.S. performances in Chicago and New York were met with enthusiastic audiences, offering listeners an authentic experience of the sacred musical tradition of Rome and the Vatican.
