SUMMARY:TODD RUNDGREN: DAMNED IF I DO TOUR
DESCRIPTION:Considered by many to be the “Ultimate Rock Cult Hero”\, Todd Rundgren has maintained a legion of fans through four decades. A pop savant who fastidiously avoided easy categorization throughout the course of his career\, Todd Rundgren straddled the gap separating a mainstream star from a cult figure. It was in the late 1960s when Todd’s searing guitar work reached a nationwide audience\, in his role as lead guitarist for the blues-psychedelic band Nazz. He wrote and arranged almost all of the work that went into the three albums the group produced. Their music ranged from Southern blues to hard rock to heavily orchestrated symphonies. Nazz broke up in the early 1970s and Todd released two solo albums under the name of Runt. His first big solo success was in 1971 with “We Gotta Get You a Woman” and in 1973 from the double album “Something/Anything?” he scored big on the charts with “I Saw the Light” and a revision of a Nazz song\, “Hello\, It’s Me.” In the late 1970s and through the 1980s Todd formed the group Utopia\, each member an accomplished musician and vocalist. Rundgren toured in late 2019 with Micky Dolenz\, Jason Scheff\, Christopher Cross and Joey Molland of Badfinger in celebration of the Beatles’ White Album on the “It Was Fifty Years Ago Today – A Tribute to the Beatles’ White Album”. SUMMARY:YES: THE FRAGILE 2025 TOUR
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 1968 by Jon Anderson and the late\, and much-missed\, Chris Squire\, YES have been one of the most innovative\, influential and best-loved bands in rock music history. Their 1970s albums The Yes Album\, Fragile\, Close To The Edge\, Yessongs (a triple live album set)\, Tales From Topographic Oceans\, Relayer and Going For The One were ground-breaking in musical style and content. Their music also became synonymous with artist Roger Dean whose distinctive YES logo design and artwork adorned the lavish gatefold presentation sleeves of many YES albums. With sales of over 50 million records\, the Grammy-award winning YES were inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017. YES released their 22nd studio album in 2021\, The Quest\, produced by Steve Howe and which went to No. 1 in the UK Rock Albums Chart and entered the Official UK Album Chart at No. 20. In 2022 came the sad news that drummer Alan White\, ever-present in the YES line-up for 50 years\, had passed away. The news came shortly before the band embarked on their classic\, genre-defining album Close To The Edge 50th Anniversary Tour which they dedicated to Alan. In February 2023\, ahead of the news of the new studio album Mirror To The Sky\, YES confirmed Jay Schellen as the new permanent drummer with YES\, hand-picked to step into his mentor and friend Alan White’s role. “I had done the 2016 tour on my own for Alan\,” says Jay. “From late 2017 onwards\, we had a beautiful partnership. I learned and discovered so much about Alan’s style. His passion and creativity were phenomenal. The new album has Alan’s presence all over it. It is inside of us. So\, this is still\, in my heart\, Alan just being present and with us\, and with me\, in a big way.” The Classic Tales of Yes tour ran through USA\, Europe\, UK and Japan during 2023 and 2024. During the summer of 2024 Yes joined Deep Purple for an American arena tour. In 2025\, the Album Series continues with The Fragile Tour. \nSPECIAL SHOW ADD-ON: Esteemed artist Roger Dean will be traveling with the YES tour displaying his artwork in what is essentially a traveling museum and fan experience. DESCRIPTION:The Story Began in 1970… \nThe story starts in 1970 in Birmingham\, England\, where the Electric Light Orchestra began their journey as one of the world’s most popular rock bands. Their music was characterized by a fusion of Beatlesque pop\, classical arrangements\, and futuristic iconography. Mik Kaminski joined the band in 1973 with his legendary blue violin. The classic lineup of ELO solidified in 1974 with the addition of bassist/singer Kelly Groucutt and orchestrator Lou Clark\, who augmented the band’s unique orchestral rock sound with his inventive classical arrangements. Mik\, Lou\, and Kelly played their way onto an astonishing library of hit records that sold more than 50 million copies. The albums include Eldorado\, Face the Music\, A New World Record\, Out of the Blue\, Discovery and Xanadu.\nAfter the original line-up of ELO broke up in 1986\, drummer Bev Bevan created ELO Part II in 1988 with English guitarist Pete Haycock\, American keyboardist and songwriter Eric Troyer\, and ELO former members Kaminski\, Clark\, Groucutt\, and cellist Hugh McDowell. The band later recruited English guitarist Phil Bates to fill out the lineup. Groucutt\, Bates\, and Troyer were all accomplished lead and harmony singers which provided an abundance of vocal riches that pushed the band’s classic sound into fresh sonic territory. Phil Bates left ELO Part II in 1998 and was replaced by American singer\, songwriter\, and guitarist Parthenon Huxley. In late 1999 drummer Bevan retired and was replaced with American drummer Gordon Townsend. The band began touring as THE ORCHESTRA in 2000. The new lineup released a brilliant album called No Rewind. The album features original songs by Kaminski\, Troyer\, Huxley\, and Groucutt\, as well as a stunning interpretation of “Twist and Shout.” Nine years later in 2009\, THE ORCHESTRA bassist and congenial front man\, Kelly Groucutt\, suddenly passed away the day after performing a concert with the group in Berlin\, which was a devastating shock to the band and to class rock fans around the world. His boyhood home features a plaque honoring Kelly’s accomplishments with ELO. THE ORCHESTRA recruited occasional ELO Part II member and former Styx bassist\, guitarist\, songwriter\, and singer Glen Burtnik to fill Kelly’s spot center stage. While Lou Clark’s multi-talented son\, Louis Clark Jr.\, worked with ELO Part II in the 90s\, he became a permanent band member with THE ORCHESTRA in 2015. The father and son team lived the dream of performing together onstage around the world until 2021 when Louis Clark Sr. passed away. Louis Jr. now carries on in his late father’s role as orchestral keyboardist and symphonic conductor\, along with the occasional romp on cello and guitar. These days multi-instrumentalist Cliff Hillis joins the band on select shows and brings an extra layer of vocals\, guitar\, and sometimes bass to THE ORCHESTRA’s dynamic sound. In 2024\, the documentary No Rewind: The Orchestra Starring ELO Former Members was released\, providing rare behind-the-scenes band footage\, stories of life on the road\, and performances of each song from the album No Rewind. Edited together in a music video style\, the film is a fast-moving reveal of how this iconic band has earned its place in rock and roll history.
